Want A Better Life? Do This.

You’ll end up somewhere, but is it actually where you want to be?

During 18 - 20 years old, I was at my lowest.

My anxiety and depression were the worst they had ever been.

I was uncertain and had little to no hope for the future.

I was self-sabotaging and giving into terrible habits and behaviours.

I wasn’t making any progress in life and that made me feel unhappy and lost.

I hated how my life was but I had no idea how to make it better.

I felt like a lose-lose situation.

And though I wanted more from my life, I didn’t know what it was I wanted.

This led to a deeper depression and loss of hope for the future.

This story isn’t new.

And neither is it unique to me.

This is the story of most young people in today’s world. And older people.

They feel lost, abandoned, frustrated, unfulfilled and angry.

Unfortunately, most never change. And like some of their parents, they learn to hide their pain or manage it as they become adults.

They settle for whatever they get but inside they are still frustrated, unfulfilled and confused teenagers.

They do what is convenient and needed for survival.

But they stay in this cycle for years and years, and when they finally come up for air, they realise it’s too late.

They didn’t live life the way they wanted to and their hearts are filled with regret.

Most people go through life feeling lost, unfulfilled and frustrated because they’ve never taken the time to ask themselves 2 questions:

  1. What do I want in life?

  2. How am I going to get there?

Answering these 2 questions translates into 4 things that lead to a fulfilling life:

  • A big compelling and crystal-clear vision

  • A strong commitment and drive to actualise the vision

  • Reverse engineering the vision into daily actions

  • The willingness to learn and improve yourself

To Have a Better Life, You Have To Create It

Nothing you want in life happens by accident.

The life you are living now didn’t happen on its own.

Whether you are conscious of it or not, you have an idea of where you will end up.

Everyone does. Everyone has a vision.

The problem, however, is that the vision people see is not the vision, they created themselves. It was given to them by society or their parents.

This is your default vision. The vision set for you by others.

At the end of the day, you are going to end up somewhere.

Ideally, you want to end up somewhere YOU WANT to be.

If you don’t set the vision for yourself, other people will set it for you.

And if you want to fulfilling life, you have to create it.

All creation starts with getting clear, getting clear on what you want.

Even if you don’t know how you’re going to get there yet, don’t let that stop you.

Use Your Imagination and Let It Flow.

It may feel like wishful thinking in the beginning, but wishful thinking of a life you want is better than accepting the life you have because you never let yourself dream.

A mistake I made early in my journey was creating a vision based on what I believed I could do or what was seemingly possible.

But when you create a vision this way, you are limiting yourself.

You are limiting your vision and what you think is possible.

Instead, use your imagination and tap into your heart.

If your life was a continual dream, what would it look like?

You want your vision to be compelling and a picture that fires you up.

No matter how out of reach it feels in the beginning.

The Shift

I’m writing to you in this newsletter because I created my vision.

My vision is far from being achieved, but I’m working towards it.

I wouldn’t be writing to you right now if I had never created my vision.

My life is completely different from what it was when I was 18 - 20.

I’m certain, focused and happy. Happier than I ever would have imagined, because I didn’t believe happiness was something I could have.

I have so much hope for the future and every day as I work towards my vision, I’m filled with more hope and confidence.

I’ve let go of so many self-sabotaging patterns and my habits and behaviours are now aligned with my vision.

I’m making progress towards the life I want and I’m happy and clear.

I love my life because I’m grateful for what I have now and I know what I want in the future. I know I’ll have it.

Action Step

  • Set aside 30 minutes to an hour.

  • Have a page or notebook and a pen.

  • Cut out all distractions and for the next 30 minutes or so

  • Write out what you want. What you truly want.

  • Use your imagination and let yourself flow as you imagine your ultimate dream life.

  • Once you’ve written down some things, read over them every morning and every evening.

The more you read over it and think about your vision, the clearer and more exciting it will become.

And know that if you start doing this, this can be the start of your new life.
